Nowadays a lot of artists try 2 emulate each other 2 c who is the coolest or tha best. My guess is that they r running out of ideas, LOL.

Yup, lots of it is same old stuff.
It's because some new sound starts off, and all the other bands think it's cool, and copy that sound. It's called selling out. They copy other's sounds to try to get the fame they do.

Record companies are often strict about what sound they will let you play. You want to release a record to them? They want you to do the successful sound.

It also takes more talent then most bands have to create a new sound.

You used the word, "Industry", as in Business Industry. If something sells in the market place then every other industry big-wig will try that shoe on for size an continue to milk it until the public proves them wrong or the artist loses their leading edge.
