Will he DH, because I heard him say on Stephen A. Smith that he likes being on the field.

Jeffery has it right.
he'll DH and give Mags a rest from time to time.

JIm Leyland has already said that Sheffield will NEVER play 1st base, EVER.

Leyland has said Sheffield will play mainly DH, maybe giving Ordonez a rest in right field once or twice a week. You never know with him how long it will take before he starts whining and complaining though. This is a guy who was excited to play first for the Yankees, and said he thought it would help him extend his career, and that he wanted to play it next season. He sulked when the Yankees wouldn't give him a new contract, then said he would not play first. The Yankees got the last laugh when they did pick up the final year of his contract so that they could trade him and get something for him.

It's only a matter of time before he starts acting like a child. Too bad, the guy is great, although he didn't do anything for the Yankees in the playoffs the last three years either, yet you don't hear about that.

He reportedly has told the Tigers that he would be receptive to a DH role. I think they will likely use him in LF on occasion (2 or 3 times a week?) and the rest of the time he will DH. He likes Leyland and will be less inclined to cause problems and accept whatever role he is asked because of that. He knows that he will be counted on to be the big bat and he enjoys the role of being "the man". I think he will be a good fit for the Tigers (at least for the first season).

He's scheduled to DH most of the time and fill in at right field periodically. His days of being a good fielder are over. And Jim Leyland - one of the best managers around - will get the most out of him and if he's healthy, he should have a good year. This is the year to put money on the Tigers if you're into betting.

He will platoon in left field and DH the rest of the time. He certainly won't be at first base unless the Tigers get desperate.

I go with the group on this one DH and LF to give Ordonez a break. But i'm sure when they play inter league he will field a postion and not ride the pine.

I agree with a lot of the other answers--DH and rest Ordonez.

He'll play the bench hopefully. Sheffield sucks.
