Well, I've never heard of Lenovo. At work we have an HP Desktop & laptop and they both work fine. They are both about 2-1/2 to 3 years old. At home I have a Dell desktop that I've had for 4-1/2 years and a laptop that I've had for 1 year. And, again, they both work fine. I have not experienced any problems with my home Dell computers or my work HP computers. My home Dell desktop is the oldest and it works just great!

Both HP & Dell have a warranty package that covers virtually everything (accidental damage waiver) so if you've ever seen that photo going around in emails where the puppy is peeing on the laptop, yes both will cover that.

I think that Dell & HP are both about equal. I would go with whichever one will provide you with exactly what you want for your money. In other words, the most bang for your buck! They both seem to have discounts periodically that will beat out the other.

Now, if you decided to purchase Dell or HP online, I would suggest you go to http://www.ebates.com and sign up. Once you've done that then do a search for Dell or Hewlett-Packard (HP) and when it brings up the link click on the link to go to the manufacturers sight and then purchase what you want. By going through the ebates link first to direct you to the site you can earn rebates (if memory serves me correctly they are both at 2% each) for your purchase that are mailed out quarterly. Thre are other companies that you can purchase from through ebates as well (Target, Staples, QVC, HSN, wine.com, Office Depot, Walmart, Best Buys, JC Penney, Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus,1-800-FLORIST, Disney, etc.) that also have rebates. You might as well earn a little money back on your purchase especially a large dollar value purchase. I've been doing this for nearly 5 years and have earned $500 in rebate checks over the years, for both my home computers & work computers as well as floral purchases, etc.

Good luck!

IBM sold it's PC business to Lenovo. Nothing as far as quality has changed since IBM sold the division. I do own 3 IBM branded Lenovo products, and will say they are excellent, and have performed flawlessly. Lenovos are in my opinion a good value for the money, and are a step above your typical dell/hp stuff.

To add a little comment on James's post below, these days most major manufacturers try and be as "industry standard" as possible, meaning I havn't seen any recent dell/hp/lenovo machines without a normal amount of pci slots or without a pci-e slot. The only thing that truthfully isn't upgradable on a modern consumer PC is the motherboard. Hard disks, Ram, optical drives, processor, power supply, and video card can almost always be upgraded.
And before people start flaming, I have been building home built systems for years. Some people think that building their own computer is an extention of their manlyness or something. The truth is, you can buy a good basic upgradable system from most manufactures for much less than you could've built the same system yourself.

Lenovo is not that popular. Dell and HP is good, but both are cheap stuff. if u want to spend nice $ and looking to keep for 3-4 years go for sony or thosiba.

If budget is your biggest concern, then go for Dell, my current one is almost 5 years now, it's been performing really good. If you have a lot of money to spare, go for HP, it is one of the better products around. Lenovo is pretty good and has received a lot of positive feedback from users, particularly their laptops. IBM has entrusted their brand of thinkpad to them knowing well they would produce good products that won't tarnish their notebook branding. I trusted IBM and Lenovo would definitely get my vote with their trust.

None of those are any good. They skimp on expansion slots E.g. AGP pci E and Sometimes PCI... usually they give you bare min of memory.. You would save alot by building your own PC. those HP and Dell and possibly Lenovo are the ones that people throw out because they are impossible to upgrade for graphics and sound usually.

Erm, I would think its HP... Lenovo isn't bad but it isn't popular. But all I know, Dell sucks to the core. Not only is it made in China, its keyboard and mouse suck.

Who makes the most reliable computers? Lenovo, closely followed by Apple, if you believe online service and support company Rescuecom's latest reliability audit, derived from more than 20,000 calls made by the firm's customers during the second quarter this year.
