Hi. Any format that be changed to a compressed format, such as .cda to .mp3, will shrink the size of the file size down. There are many programs for 'ripping' CDs to .mp3 including Windows Media Player.

Ya you can use Sony's Sound Forge 7.0 to reduce the size of a song without changing the extension. But the quality of song will reduced as you reduce the size. You can also change the format of a song i.e. .mp3 to .rm, without changing the quality of a song.
If you change a song from MP3 to RM, you can reduce the size from 5MB to 528KB... means upto 4.5MB.

there is no software to make your movie/music file that small. If you still want to shrink your file a little you can use "ashampoo shrink" (Software). This will not ruin the quality of your file. Find it at Download.com or search for it on "Google.com"

I dunno of any software that will compress an audio file by so much. If you're having the file in WAV format, try converting it to MP3. That will save some space. If you're facing so much crunch... try compressing the MP3 again (will not save much space but is worth a try)
