It really depends. Chevy guys are gonna all say Camaro's because Fords suck. Ford guys are all going to say Mustangs because Chevy's suck. I prefer Fords but I am a Musclecar guy so I will say it depends. I really like the styling of first genreation camaro's and the 396 was one hell of a motor and the Yenko got a 427!!! the Mustang however Had the BOSS302, BOSS351, BOSS429, the GT350 and GT500's which got 428 CobraJets. They also have the Mach1. I would give that round to the Mustang. Chevy was always the underdog in the 60's musclecar wars Ford and Dodge led the pack. the 70's and early 80's I don't care about they are ALL ugly and underpowered wussy cars. in the mid 80's to Early 90's things got interesting again the gas crunch was over and performance 302's and 350's were being seen again. the Mustangs were lighter than the camaro's and the power output fromt he 302 and 350 were nearly identical. Again I'm going to give the mustang props here, lighter car with nearly identical power and the 93 Cobra R which hands down spanked the Camaro, Now comes the late mid 90's the mustang has been restyled and the camaro has been restyled both are sleek and about the same size. This is where the Camaro gets the props as Chevy puts out some serious performance models Moreso in the Firebird line than the Camaro line. and the base model camaro has power output comparable to the mustang GT the V8 camaro is comparable to the Mustang Cobra and Ford has the 95 Cobra R--Again the Cobra R will hands down spank the Camaro but thats not enough for the mustang to overtake the Camaro as a whole. Early 2000's Ford again has a Cobra R as well as a Mach 1 the Camaro has officially been spanked HARD by the mustang if had a brief moment in the late 90's but that's it. GM realizes that the mustang is hands down spanking the camaro and has been for decades and decided to Retire the car from production. as a Mustang guy this was sad news. What was left for the almighty Pony car to race--riceburners What a Joke that was. IF GM does re-introduce the camaro it is only going to be riding on the wave of a new horespower/musclecar war being started between Dodge/Ford. Once again there will be a ponycar offering from the big 3. Dodge has a Hemi-Powered Charger, and Will be offering a Hemi-Powered Challenger. Chevy will have the Camaro and Ford will have the Mustang. Ford however has some sneaky new and re-introduced engines in it's lineups and for model year 08 and the base-poweroutput of the new Ford engines is already well above the power levels of the dodge and chevy. It's even rumored that the Camaro might not see production because Chevy won't be able to compete with the Fords and Dodges, just like in the HP wars of the 60's. On an overall Basis I'm going to say Mustang and for ONE reason only--it's the only nameplate to make it through from original introduction to current model year without being killed off. Yes 74-78 might have all been called mustang II BUT the Mustang name is still there.

Mustangs!! to me, Carroll Shelby revolutionized the whole muscle car world! the 1964 Mustang yeah she's nice, the beginning of some of the best years of the muscle car industry. After the '67 and '68 Mustangs, Chevy put out I personally feel the nicest Camaros '68 '69. Dodge had their Chargers,Olds, Etc. I've had the luxury of living through those years and watching some of the biggest works of art on the road. I love a lot about most of the muscle cars, but my heart will always be with the Mustang. And the Man that had a vision that started such beautiful battle of the cars.

Mustang. That's a true American classic, with which Ford went where GM even hadn't. The camaro was chevy's answer to the Mustang, just another wannabe. Plus, the Mustang has worked as a chick magnet for a lot longer than any Chevy.

Having had both, I really like the Mustang better. More aftermarket parts if you want to give it some go fast goodies. plus it sounds so much better. I had a '74 Camaro and a '94 and '95 Mustang

I prefer the new Mustange over the Camaros because they have a good blend of the old style along with new lines. It is just a classier looking car.

I prefer the camaro simply because it comes right out of the factory ready to race vs. a stang that has to be sent to a 3rd party performance shop prior to reaching the showroom and then the performance items are covered by a separate warranty and then you have to use the high octane gas to get the best performance possible. A camaro will take good ol 87 gasoline and still burn just about everything on the road.

Camaro's have style..
Mustangs (I like the fast backs so exclude those from this), but there are so many made of the "typical" mustangs...
BTW I am talking the classic cars not these new cars that look all alike.....

Definatley a Camaro for performance....chevy is just a better buildt car for racing...for an evry day car people can put up with mustangs and they are fast....but dont get as much put into them as chevy does....which is why they have become a better company in the last year

Mustangs have always been more drivable and user friendly than Camaros but they don't perform as well.
The sales figures say the Mustang is better.

Im a fan of the camaro, only because I feel it handles slightly better. I have pictures of what should have been a fatal mustang crash. 2004 SVT Cobra convertable, one of 500 hand built (that year) hit the trees at 107MPH. driver wasn't buckled, broke his hip and got tree bark under his scalp. passenger was buckeled, broke both legs, wrist and neck. both lived; so lucky. Moral of the story is mustangs handle like crap.
