yeah, rubbing it usually makes it feel better. (heehee) use caution when you have your snake around beavers though.

Rubbing the snake will just make it regurgitate. Do not use heat rocks, as with a snake's anatomy, it will just burn one section at a time, since the snake won't realize it's getting too hot. It the snake has indigestion, then it's usually because the food was too big for it to eat. The prey shouldn't be any bigger than the widest part of your snake. Snakes can stretch their jaws considerably--even more so than their stomachs can. Just because a snake can swallowed something doesn't necessarily mean it will fit in their stomachs.
In a week or two the snake will either digest the large meal or it will regurgitate it. Both of which are perfectly normal and do not necessarily hint at a health problem. Feed it something smaller a week or two after it digests or regurgitates. This is a common mistake and is no cause for alarm.

What kind of snake?? Well, rubbing it might just end up with you getting regurged on. Leaving it alone will probably be the best thing you can do. I'm sure you have a uth (not a heat rock these are VERY bad) already and if you don't, you need one. I don't even touch my ball python for at least 48 hours after she has eaten. Other snakes might be different but I don't know what kind you have.

Make sure that the temperature of the terrarium is warm enough for the type of snake you have. I wouldn't recommend a heat rock because they have been known to burn the stomachs of reptiles. Use a heat lamp as well as an undertank heater (its safer). If he cant digest the rat he'll probably just regurgitate it. Try again in about a week with a smaller rat.

Digestion takes quite a while. If it didn't work they will regurgitate it up.
