IE7 requires Windows XP SP2. You'll need to download SP2 (and probably a huge set of hotfixes) before installing IE7. http://www.windowsupdate.com.

You need XP Service Pack 2.
Oh, my XP totally crashed when I tried to uninstall IE7 because apparently it installed some useless but important registry files with it. When I started my computer up after the uninstall, None of my programs or the start bar loaded, it said a file could not be found. A local computer guy told me that IE7 cause the problem.

Since you have XP just turn the auto-update on. Have it look for new updates and IE7 should be listed. You can also get IE7 from Yahoo!
The only issue is that Microsoft now checks for legit CD keys for your Operating System so if you don't have a legit CD key then you may be out of luck.

There are still major security issues with IE7. Our company's IT department will absolutely not allow anybody to install it on their computer.
Tells you something doesn't it?
I would seriously wait - even if Yahoo tells you it's the best thing since sliced bread.

Don't install it at all!
I'm serious, it sucks!
The old version is much faster and better.
