Obviously they are important as the US does not control everything much as it would like to. We need the assistance of other countries to make things go smoothly in this "war on terror".

Apart from the British Prime Minister who claims a spurious 'special relationship' with America, the rest of the world including the major powers in Europe will only really deal with America once the present incumbent is no longer in office. It is clear people do not dislike Americans, but the regime in power.

You have your finger right on the terrible truth, and it is everything but admitted at this point. The neocons had a mission but absolutely no insight into the problem, but the pulled it off by fooling themselves and many others. Bush was the perfect angry fool for the situation. He still can not face the facts on the ground, the White House grounds or the ground of the Middle East.

The Bush Admin. has betrayed the leaders of UK and Mexico. Who wants to trust the US with a leader like this? Have you noticed that whenever Bush asks Putin to do something, the Russian leader does a 180 to do the opposite of what was asked? The American people have to regroup and win back the trust of the world after this Republican debacle is behind us.

Hate when people answer w/o really reading my links... but it's late. I don't care what EU thinks of me, but I'm interested in seeing how things play out for EU's capitulation; what can we learn from them.

It doesn't look pretty.
