Okay, my BFF, is Indian, like from India. Her parents are sucessful doctors, and are seperated. Her dad lives in Vegas, and she lives in a fancy-smancy condo in Chicago with her mom. They are very Americanized and all, and are Hindu. Her parents won't let her marry a Muslim man, because they think Muslims are crazy. Her mom can be a little bit racist towards blacks. When we were driving in her car, there was a valet parking guy who was black, and her mom said, "He's valet parking? I don't think so with my car." Her mom drives a really nice BMW. But her parents, especially her dad, claim they are liberal democrats. So what's the deal?

I don't think it is a racist quality to prefer that a person be married and live with their own kind. It makes natural sense. Also, when people who are from different religious backgrounds marry, they have troubles, but when kids arrive, disaster strikes when the decision about which religion they should be taught arises. It is better and easier to be evenly yoked with a person who has your similar background, race, religion, and culture. The problem comes when people from non similar backgrounds try to reconcile and prioritize their life. Whose values have precedence? So, I think it is more prudence than racism. I think this also because all the people of the different races, religions, and various cultures I know think this way as well.

People of all races can and often do have racist tendencies towards others. I can understand why they have harsh feelings towards Muslims -- Hindus and Muslims have had very bad blood between them for centuries. That's not going to go away anytime soon. I don't know why your friend's mother feels the way she does towards black people, though. Perhaps she's had a few bad experiences with black people and it's tarnished her opinion of all of them. (Which is really a shame...like other groups of people, there are good and bad among them; if I hated all black people because of my bad experiences with some of them, I would have lost out on some very fulfilling friendships.)

As for her parents' political affiliations, I hate to say it, but lots of liberal democrats (not all, for those exceptions to the rule out there) are hyprocrites. They're accepting of differences as long as they, personally, don't have to come into contact with them. I know about this all too well, as I have a few of them in my family.

Personally I believe everyone is a little racist.

"Her parents won't let her marry a Muslim man"

First sign of racism.

"When we were driving in her car, there was a valet parking guy who was black, and her mom said, "He's valet parking? I don't think so with my car."'

People can be racist because of class/ first impression/ and experience.

One of those could have happen to the rich parents. Who knows?

Why is everybody always ready to throw that race card out there? Do you think there could possibly be any hint of a reason she thinks Muslims are crazy these days? Id say theres alot more people that think that than is willing to admit...probably you too to a certain extent. Pretty natural feeling considering the terrorists are ...hello, Muslim. Thats not racism thats realism. Whos more likely to do a car jack? Realism again. Everybody knows it. Few seem to admit it. Move away from theoretical land.

Most rich Indians are classists, if not racist. They look down on anyone who is not from their socioeconomic strata. It's the way Indian society is set up. Poor people have no hope at all of moving up.

I'm surprised they let their daughter hang around with a Russian, too.

Hmm, interesting how these type of people come here from their Cow deity overpopulated country, become successful here and when they are in the top with their careers they simply drag down thru the mud the Blacks and other minorities LIKE THEM! in three words: They are racist.

In the other hand, they might have a point of not letting their daughter marry a Muslim because according to them they are crazy., they might have a strong point there.

Who knows, maybe she didn't want the black valet to park her car because she was embarrassed of her musty odor...they don't wear deodorant you know.
See...isn't it strange when people of color, who are commonly mistreated by other races, mistreat other people of color?
And they almost have to be liberal democrats, because conservative republicans are typically against the social programs that allow them to come to the US and use tax dollars to get student grants aimed at immigrants. You know, the grants that allowed them to become so successful in the US. Most Americans don't realize that the reason immigrants are so successful in the US is because when they come here from India, Pakistan, Korea, and places like that, tax money in the form of grants and extremely low interest loans are thrown at them to go to school and start businesses. And then when they become successful they turn their noses up at Americans like we are idiots.

Don't really get why indians from india dislike black people. For on thing they look like black people, because their skin is really, really dark. Second, up where I live, east indians (from india) like black guys. This is evident because every east indian girl I know has a black boyfriend, or wants a black boyfriend. They actually are pretty obsessed with them.

from the information you give about her mum i easily conclude that she (the Mum) is racist, she has prejudice of the valet parking guy just on the basis of his skin colour, that is what is called racisism, there is no class/category of racism so you cant say a liitle racist, super racist, or whatever kind of racism, a racist is just a racist.
nways i can't comment about her dad whom you didnt say much about except that he is a liberal democrat, i believe you can be a liberal democrat and still be racist. coz it all about prejudice.

OMG! That's so racist! I could understand not wanting your daughter to marry someone of a different race (it's very common among parents...especially since they grew up more narrow minded than us) but to say that in front of you shows a lack of respect and common sense! That's complelty rude and so bad!
