I got my ears pierced about 2 years ago. And I continued to wear earrings until I started sports. I usually always wore them on the weekends though. I stopped wearing them becuase it seemed like every weekend my right ear would close up. It wouldn't just be a tiny layer of skin, it would really hurt when I repierced it. My question is, is that why might this be happening if i still wear earrings twice a week, why does my ear close?

Everyone's body reacts differently towards piercings. Yours just happens to be one of many that needs to wear jewelry often in order to keep the piercing. If you want to play sports and keep your ears pierced, try some fishing line. It works wonders! Also, wearing a bit of heavier earrings should help a bit when you're able to. That will obviously stretch out your ear a bit more. What you could also do is go to a piercer and they can stretch your ears a bit for you so this doesn't continue to happen. Of course you will need to keep earrings in while they heal.

That's odd.

I thought maybe they never fully healed but after 2 yrs they really should have. Some people's ears naturally close up quickly, though. I had mine pierced about a year ago and as i wear earrings more and the longer i leave them out the more time it takes them to close... i can go over a week with no earrings and nothing happens.

Umm i have an idea--put in earrings for a bit every day. Take them out for sports but when you get home (say before bedtime) put earrings in... heavy ones might be best, wear them for a little while and then take them out before bed. That way they shouldn't close up.

That happens to me too, but i've had my ears pierced for about 8 years now. When I dont wear earings for about a week or more, they start to close up and it hurts so much when I try to put them back in. None of my friends seem to have this problem because they go for months without wearing earings and everything is fine.

Can you believe it? The same thing happens to me. I have three holes on the bottom of my ear lobes and the third one keeps closing, I have to force the earring through and then it starts bleeding. I was thinking it may be where the cartilage is and maybe it goes back where it is suppose to be. Not too sure , but that is the only thing I can really think of.

You are growing growing...Apply a rubbing Alcohol around your pierced hole after wearing a earrings or apply a butter on the stud of a earring and wear thereafter.

Mine close up if I don't wear earrings for 2 wks or more. Try to go to sleep with earrings and take them off in the daytime if you need to..that way they won't close up.

Because you only wear earrings for a short period of time if you can wear them at school or wear studs during practice

If you still have your "stud" earrings, put those back in for awhile. just like you just got them pierced. treat your ears that way. keep 'em clean too! :)
your ears close cause your not using your earrings in the hole. your body will start to heal itself and start closing that pore. thats why you need to keem earrings in. :)
