the best plan of action is to find a new job before you quit this one unless its specifically horrible. After you've found a job tell the interviewer that you need to give your present job two weeks notice they will definitly understand the next day or even the same day call or tell your manager in person that in two weeks from today you will no long be working at that place.

You submit a letter of resignation to your boss giving him 2 weeks notice - listing the last day you will be at work and also a few good words about what you have learned working with him/her.

The standard is that you give two weeks' notice to your employers (usually through your direct supervisor) that you are leaving. Unless you've done something horrible, if they are asked if they would rehire you, they are bound to say yes.
Personally? I would interview new jobs and tell them that you have to give your old one two weeks' notice if they hire you, so you can't start working until two weeks from the date they accept you as an employee. Next day, you give two weeks' notice.
