he took his name from an old skool rapper from brooklyn in the eighties named 50 cents. the first fifty was famous for robbing other rappers even at their own shows....the new fifty (curtis jackson) liked the image of the old fifty and took up his name years after the original fifty was shot and killed......... thats also why fifty's first single back before he got famous was "How to rob feat. the madd rapper" in which he describes how he would rob all the famous rappers at the time.
