I believe in a "level playing field" but I just don't believe in the communist approach: the government taking control. I believe in creating policies which will level the playing field without big government, and I think taxation and redistribution is the way to go...Not government ownership of businesses and restrictions.

No. Communism theoretically would work, but in practice fails. You just have to look at Russia in the 80's. The economy was falling apart. Product quality was poor since everyone was given guaranteed job placement and so didn't have to work hard. People weren't rewarded for their hard work and were paid the same. There wouldn't be incentive to work hard. Unless this congressperson wasn't completely communist (kind of like Gorbachev or just left sided and pursuing mixedeconomics such as Canada, Norway or Sweden), perhaps. But I'm more just a Liberal and probably just vote Democrat.
Just depends on how "intense" they'd be.

I realize they wouldn't be advocating the overthrow of government, why would they be running for an office in government if they did?
But no, the free market, as brutal and competitive as it is, is the best economic system.

Article is about socialism, but the same argument can be made against communism

Most definitely, communism would be a wonderful excape from our capitalistic ratrace and would help to eliminate many forms of government corruption. Without capitalism no lobyist can buy our political leaders.

Of course not. A system without incentive is certainly one bound for failure. You have been paying attention to the last century of history, right? Educate yourself regarding the real world.

heck no! That'd be like voting for Hilary Clinton for president! In other words, voting for them would be terrible for the whole region they govern.
