I have a home network and im trying to connect to a one of my pc's with an ip address of 192.168.1.100 ....the other pc ip is 192.168.1.102 ...now how can i use remote desktop to connect to the pc 192.168.1.1 ...i entered that number in the remote desktop connection window and it does connect to the pc but it wont accept the password that i normally use? saying .."the system cannot log you in make sure user name and domain are correct and type password again...." ....i though that usually if your connecting remotely within a network it should work no problem using the ip address that the router distributes....

Type in the IP address of the PC you want to connect to, 192.168.1.102 and make sure the destination PC has remote desktop connections enabled.

Start-Control Panel-System

Hit the remote tab and make sure "Allow users to connect remotely to this computer" is checked.

If it already is checked, you can try this... For a username, type in "192.168.1.100\username" (without the quotes) and your password.

The user name you're trying to connect with must have rights to connect, if that username is an administrator, then it does.

You have to put the PCs ip in that you want to control! Either 192.168.1.100 or 192.168.1.102! You are tryin to put the router addy in!

192.168.1.1 is most likely the IP of your router so you can't Remote Desktop to it.
