I made the mistake when I was young - my first professional job - by dating a co-worker. Disaster. Fortunately, I was prepared to quit when another position I wanted opened up. It did and I split. Now, we know that no one should ever date or get romantically involved with a co-worker. If the two want to then one of them moves on to another job. Today, most employers will not permit romances between staff for very good reason. As for your "high expectationsl," you set yourself up because you had no right to fantasize about this guy - that is an immature emotion that is not appropriate no matter where you work. Everywhere we go there will be the "perfect" guy/gal because we are desperate and so we fantasize and it is downhill from there. Learn that now or later.

You must as well quit this guy than quit your job cos the relationship will never last if you have certain high expectation of this guy. Jobs are more difficult to come by than guys which are plentiful out there.
