I think I got the timeline right, anyways. I think I may have cracked something in my rib from coughing. Is this possible? From what I have read all that I can do is wait for it to heal. Is there anything I can do to make the healing process go by faster? Thanks!

Thank you for all of your help so far! My coughing is almost gone now (I forgot to mention that).

i dont think you cracked anything, i think its just a sore abbdominal from coughing and using it while you cough. but you can always see try to bend over from standing up and youll be able to tell by placing your hand on the part that hurts and seeing if its on muscle or a rib. and locating the igzact spot of pain, im no doctor though.

i think cracked ribs have to just heal on there own and if it is cracked id just go easy and dont sit up try to lean into standing position side ways and use the arms to push you up so you wont put stress on the rib and just take it easy. and youll be fine.

Peace-

Yeah same thing going on with me, coughing for three weeks. I guess it is possible to crack a rib but I am thinking not. So having said that if you really think you did go check with your doc. I went to a clinic and they x-rayed and then gave me antibiotics. I work with kids so I can get viruses some times. Ok, I was coughing so hard I was having pain in the ribs and in the back area. Basically it was just sore muscles as they get strained. Hope you get better soon as I sure can relate and it's worse when you have asthma like I do :( Anyway, check with your doc, take care :)

It is possible to crack a rib from coughing. It happened to my mum many years ago. I still think you should see your doctor though. Coughing for 3 weeks is definitely not good and you probably need some antibiotics. You should get the rib checked out too, just to make sure that is what's causing the pain.

Your assessment of rib injury is quite possible. You would be better to go see a doctor.
I sneezed once, and the pain in my chest was so absolutely horrible, I wondered if I was having a heart attack. The doctor said I had pulled a chest muscle when I sneezed, nothing to worry about. (Easy for him to say!)
Anyway, do see a doctor.

Continuous cough without attention leads to such pain not only in hip but also in abdomen. Cough if more than a day, should get attended with medication.

It sounds like you have pulled a mussel in you rib cage. Maybe you should go to the doctor to get pain pills and an anti-inflammatory. Best wishes
