I was looking at one at the instrument store today, and obviously, the guitar itself is much smaller, but what about the fretboard? wasn't paying attention at the time.

Guitars can have different scale lengths(neck length), depending upon the length of the body and number of frets, but most acoustic and electric guitar necks will be the same width. Classical guitars usually have wider necks, though.

They are usualy about the same length, but a bit narrower, and thinner. usualy the strings are of a lighter gauge, too. Try playing one, the action is nice, and you usualy dont have to press down as hard. the fret size is the same, there is a mathematical formula for the size of the frets, so you can play the note corresponding to the fret. the space between the tailpiece and the nut is divided up into spaces, but not even spaces, notice how the higher notes have smaller spaces, and the frets dont even start until about a third of the way down the string length. you wouldnt really be able to hear much above there, frequency too high.

In practical terms, the distance between frets is the same.

Many acoustic guitars have a 25.4" scale while many electrics have either a 24 3/4" (24.75") scale (very slightly less space between the frets) or 25 1/2" (25.5") scale (very slightly more space between the frets).

They are the same length but Electric Guitars are generally narrower and the action is usually set lowwer to the fretboard so they are easier to play.

The fretboards must be the same length otherwise the intonation and tone would be off.

Yes, most fret boards on electric guitars are smaller and more narrow. That's why it's a plus to have long fingers if you're a guitarist. Your fingers can travel all over the board.......

The fretboard on an electric is slightly narrower than on an acoustic.
