I have been there and there is quite a mix of clothing.
I would doll up in what ever I feel really good in.
I have worn black slacks with long open silk shirt exposing a very nice fitted v neck t shirt, pants and a jacket with a turtle neck or fitted t shirt underneath, of course all with a very nice over coat on over it. I have even worn black jeans with a very nice **** and jacket with a scarf and then an over coat. Just doll up don't over dress...........I think the tux is a bit much unless that is what you feel good in. I know when I went the chorus was in tuxes but I really didn't notice anyone else in them. But then again I'm not sure if it was Carnegie Hall, I think it was but does that change your attire?

You can't go wrong with "hottie basics." I've never been to Carnegie Hall, but simple elegance always works. Dress formally, in a casual suit and tie. If you want to look like a hottie, try dark jeans and a clean, tight (well-fitting, nothing baggy) black t-shirt. To formal-up the outfit, add a blazer and a tie (go for a solid color like white or blue.) If you don't like ties or think you might get cold, wear a a thick knitted scarf in a solid color instead of a tie. Either way you will look semi-casual but ALL HOT!

It used to be semi-formal to formal. However, if you're relatively young, you can wear anything that you would normally wear to the office for work. If you are a laborer, at least put on some chinos or nicer pants. A tie would be nice, but not a requirement.
Have a good time!!

Jacket and tie is expected, but a tuxedo is not required. A nice suit would be good as it is not overly formal nor overly casual.

Soem would wear business casual, but the best is a three-piece suit or a tuxedo.

people placed on something from formal gown to (regrettably) very casual placed on. I prefer to gown good to honor the area and the performers. the two decision may well be nice; basically remember it may get chilly interior.
