I remember reading once that an artist is usually given a number of CDs from their recording company to sell at concerts. Is that true? It seems like they would get a larger cut of the revenue. Anyone have some references on that? I've noticed that CDs often cost less at a concert than at a retail store or at an online shop like Amazon. Thanks.

Well it just stands to reason that cutting out one of the steps in the chain would result in a slightly larger slice of the pie. One less company to share with. But I can't back that up with facts.
