No. It's because of a man named Streinbrenner. As long as he's owner of the Yankees, the payroll will always be near the top (if not on top already). The Mets do have a bright future. I've heard their new stadium will be awesome (and reminiscent of Ebbets Field). The Mets are competitive in spending, too but they are not at level of spending that Streinbrenner is willing to do. George is crazy and spends his money like its fantasy baseball. It's actually disturbing.

No way. The Mets seem to think they are much younger, and have a brighter future, but other than Wright, Reyes, and Beltran, they are at least as old as the Yankees, who have some good young pitchers on the way. The Mets thought Lastings Milledge was going to be the man, but he is very disliked by his own teammates, and has been mentioned in trade rumors.

I think the Yankees have finally gotten the message, and with Cashman running the show, and not Steinbrenner's weasels in Tampa, the Yankees will get back to their formula of the 1990s, and that is building from within.

What do u mean by future?? do u mean the kids in minors or who will be better in the future yrs.
Right now on the field, Yankees are the better team. Lots of offense and a reasoable starting rotation. Mets keep adding older players. They have Glavine, Alou, O.Hernandez, Julio Franco, Shawn green, and Jose Valentin. Those players are not young. The mets do have young starsin Reyes and Wright and some Pitchers coming up.

The Yankees have more and better talent. The Mets have hope, but still need to make sure their pitchers stay healthy.
