Hi! I am 36 wks pregnant and also have a 3 year old son. Wow that is a scary thing and just to let you know it is very normal to be scared and worried of these things happening. I think it is quite rare for this to happen though i am not a doctor. the best advice i could give you though is to speak to it about your doctor or midwife if you are very concerned. Also it is very important to pay attention to your babies movements, if they seem less or you dont notice them at all go to the hospital right away to get checked. A good thing to do is pick a time of day when you know your baby moves the most and count the movements, i read in a book that if you feel less than 10 movements in an hour then to call your doctor, remember the movements may be very small.

Unfortunately, this can happen. However, it is not very common. Strange how you know three people that it has happened to. I wouldn't be too worried. Worrying won't change anything. Just try to enjoy the rest of your pregnancy and look forward to what is to come. Pay close attention to the babies movements. If you don't feel any movements for 24 hours, you should call your doctor.

Make sure to count your babies movements. You should get ten in one hour. A nurse also told me that a sign of a fetus in distress is if you feel way way more movement then normal or no movement in a day. Then you should get it checked out. I had the same worries. Another thing you can do to ease your mind is buy a doppler for about 30 bucks and you can listen to your babies heart beat whenever you like. That may reassure you.

I was once, but that was before my Mother showed me how they can most always tell if the cord is around the baby's neck while they are checking your Dialations. I had my Daughter during Hurricane Katrina in Hattiesburg, MS, in a hospital with no airconditioning and no Ice or power. All I did while I was fighting the Contractions was praying: "God if you can here me through all of the other women's crys Please protect Hannah Marie(my daughter). I don't give a *^&* about me just protect Her." You know what she is a healthy 22lb one year old now and I thank him every day for her screams.

Get a fetal monitor and listen to the heart beat. That will help you feel more confident about it.
The cord cannot knot, its connected at both ends. it can intangle around the baby's neck, and cut off oxygen to the brain. Or otherwise become pinched, stopping the blood supply. Its insanely uncommon, and its really unheard of that you had three pregnant friends who all lost their babies to the same phenomenon.

It happens but you need to keep all your doctor appointments and also ask the doctor to teach you to know how much the baby kicks after each meal. There is a sign that the baby gives that something is wrong and it has to do with not enough kicks after meals.

Don't worry! if you don't do activities that might make the baby get choked by it's chord. Like the first person said, the baby is in God's hands, and is safe there, trust me. Congrats and Good Luck!!!
