It is a combination of two landmarks: Big Ben and The (Lambeth)Bridge.

People stand on the bridge with Big Ben in the background over their shoulder for a great photograph.

Hi - This is completely unofficial just my opinion, I just got back from 8 day vacation in London and Big Ben was the landmark I took the most pictures of.

Theres three actually:
the guards outside of Buckingham Palace
Big Ben *the great big ole clock they have*
The Tower of London

Probably Big Ben, followed by Buckingham Palace "not necessarily the guards, but the palace itself) and then it's all downhill from there.

That's a what I normally see the most on postcards.
