I think first you have a web site of your own and invite people to visit your website. I can give you a link that gives a lot of information on promoting a website. Microsoft (free domain and hosting for life) , Google (Googlepages, Blogger) , Yahoo (Geocities), Freewebs are some of the companies offering free websites with design tools . A list of free websites with features and links is available at http://tinyurl.com/lw7kp

for a proffesional website, you'll need some basic experience in running one.

chicken or an egg situation, so before you start paying money out for proffesional webhosting, i suggest you take a look at www.freewebs.com

there you can get a free ( although basic) website registered, up and running without needing to know the inns and outs of webhosting/web building. they have a simple interface which will allow you to work out and use things to your hearts content, think of it as a playground to learn about how to create your website.

one other major advantage is the simple, fast, yet very efficient website builder, which will design the layout and al the buttons / technical parts of the website for you.

when your ready , type into any search engine "register domain name" and you'll find many different web-hosters who will sell you domain names (thats the part where your website will be stored) for various prices. it will then be up to you to upload your website and files using whichever interface the respective hoster has.

www.freewebs.com, you'll find it has everything you need there to get started, and with a little learing its possible to transfer the site there over to a new address once you get a premium hoster.

theres two ways, ones to go free (not that great as your on a sub domain like this www.yourname.50megs.com) and the pay way (good but you have to pay every month). The free way is to host on a sub domain provider like freewebsite.com or 50megs.com or 50webs.com They will give you a free domain but it is under them. If you pay, you can get your own domain (about A$10 a month) and host it with someone (could be free but that gives ad's) for A$10 -A$100 with a host. You pay more as you need more features like extensions, API's CGI's etc.

My advise on that one is to go to yahoo. of course you need a screen name and a pass word but as for my space I am not sure because I am not on my space yet.
