say that you did not show up when called in, the surgeon kicked you out of the or, you inserted the enema tip in the wrong orifice, you didn't get c-7 on the x-table lat, blah blah blah.

My excuse has always been that it was a term position and even though I kept getting extended eventually my job was done or the funding had run out.
For you it would help if you told us why and then I could help embellish it for you. You could just say that there were certain unprofessional things going on that you just couldn't overlook anymore and you wanted to look for a job that would take a more professional approach. Actually prospective employers don't like it when you criticize your previous employer so try to sugarcoat it as much as possible while making yourself appear great.

i find in the past this worked for an interview
My last employer and I came to a mutal agreement that the situation we were both in was not working and that it would be better to leave things and start afresh.
something along those lines that way it seems that you and the employer both agreed and it looks better than you trying to go into dtails that you possibly do not want to disclose.
Maybe your questions could be better for the careers section you will prob get a broader range of answers and more "expert" advice possibly hop i helped

I would not mention that there was a sudden departure. If it should get mentioned, distract the interviewer by asking personal questions.

Well, u cannot tell them that u were fired. If u quit your job, u could say that you just wanted a better job that was more challenging. You don't have to tell them that it was sudden departure.

My excuse was, I ended up in the hospital with double pneumonia and the doctor told me that my lungs and heart was so messed up that I could never work again, and she got the paperwork going for me to get social security disability. Besides I was on oxygen 24/7 for over 6 months, now it is only at nighttime.

You felt your life was in danger and just had to get out of there fast. Or use the govenment angle. Due to circumstances beyond your control you were uprooted one night and woke up in another time zone. You could tell them but you'd have to kill them. Witness protection program maybe. Good luck go get 'em. Turtle.

Be honest. Tell them whatever it was that you were doing. "One day, I just felt this urge to travel --I quit my job and went out to see the world." or "My aunt needed help on the farm -- I went to learn about farming." You know... tell them the story so that they see that it was a "human judgment" call that urged you to suddenly quit, rather than being just plain irresponsible for no heart-felt reason.
