when I plug into my usb port my computer tells me it doesn't recognize it. its doing this for new stuff and old like my mouse and digital camera so what can I do to fix? or does the usb port can the break??

if this is a relaitively new problem and the older devices once worked but now don't several things may have happened.
1 the driver for the USB ports may have been removed or corrupted. go to the control panel and try rolling back the drivers for the ports. if that fails locate the original install disk for your computer and re-install the driver for the system board and or the add on USB port card that may or may not be installed)
2 it could be a virus or other malware that has caused the error in which case repeat the remedy action in step one above.
finally the port may simply have failed or the registry corrupted, so try running system restore to a time when everything worked normally. if that still fails then check the devices on another computer and make sure it is not the device with the problem.
replace any faulty components and your system will be fine.

XP or your OS probably doesnt have the drivers for your USB thingo and this is why its doing this (scanning the computer for the drivers and the new item) so you need to find the drivers and install them. IF its a camera, printer, scanner etc. the manufactuers website should have them for you.

It means the computer cannot find a correct driver to run that hardware. You need to search the company's website (i.e. Cannon, Kodak, or Olympus) for a driver specfic to your digital camera model. Then you need to download it, then plug in the digital camera, and then when it says "Cannot Find Driver" you need to manualy install that driver from the location you saved it at.
