Supposedly, after Meredith left, and they were determining new cohosts, Star was upset that Rosie O'Donnell was one of the choices, because Rosie was calling her out on how she lost so much weight, so quickly. Star thought it was nobody else's business, but apparently Rosie didn't agree, and said that she should let the world's obese know how she did it!

Hope this helps!

Contract was coming up to the end and Rosie O'Donnel was a guest on the view. Jones and Rosie didnt get along so the producers decided not to renew jones contract and hire Rosie instead DONT ASK HOW I KNOW

I think it had something to do with her contract being up and Barbara what's-her-face not wanting to renew it. Then there was that silly issue over whether or not she had liposuction or not (which coincidentally was started by none other than Rosie O'Donell) and some other stupid stuff. I never watch the show, but I think they hit her with a low blow and I've seen clips on The Soup and I don't like Rosie O'Donell's attitude. Just an opinion, though. ;)

Star had planned to leave the show in the fall, but in June she announced she was leaving when Rosie came to replace her.
Barbara Walters was very upset that Star had announced she was leaving in the fall gave her walking papers to be effective immediately.
I guess Barbara wanted to make the announcement herself and Star upset the apple cart.

because she lied about her liposuction surgery so people didn't trust her?
here is a statement of facts about that
Star Jones Reynolds's departure from "The View," which she announced on the show yesterday after weeks of rumors, was actually in the works for far longer than even savvy viewers realized. It came more than six months after ABC executives decided not to renew her contract when it expires later this summer, Barbara Walters, the show's co-executive producer, said in an interview after the broadcast.
"They had done a great deal of research, and her negatives were rising," said Ms. Walters, who, like Ms. Jones Reynolds, has been a co-host of the program since its inception nine years ago. "Not so much because of what she did on the air. It was things she did off the air. The audience was losing trust in her. They didn't believe some of the things she said."
Ms. Walters declined to specify what in particular had concerned the network, but Ms. Jones Reynolds drew criticism when she arranged for suppliers to donate items for her wedding in 2004, apparently in exchange for being mentioned on the show.
Yet Ms. Walters said that the timing of yesterday's announcement had caught her off guard, even with all the recent speculation that Ms. Jones Reynolds would leave the show before Rosie O'Donnell, a sometimes critic of Ms. Jones Reynolds, joined it in September. Ms. Walters said she and Ms. Jones Reynolds had agreed to announce the departure tomorrow
During the commercial break immediately before her announcement, Ms. Jones Reynolds, Ms. Walters and the two other hosts — Joy Behar and Elisabeth Hasselbeck — had been talking about air-conditioning, which was to be the subject of their regular "Hot Topics" segment.
Instead, Ms. Jones Reynolds began the segment by interrupting Ms. Behar to say, "Excuse me one minute."
After clasping her colleagues' hands in hers, she continued, "Something has been on my heart for a little bit, and after much prayer and counsel, I feel like this is the right time to tell you that the show is moving in another direction for its 10th season, and I will not be returning as co-host next year."

Supposedly she didn't have her contract renewed by ABC because her popularity score had dropped significantly. It was rumored that she hated Rosie b/c Rosie called her out on her weightloss. She also got negative publicity b/c she constantly promoted her wedding on the View in an attempt to get vendors to offer free or discounted services.....I think Payless Shoes dropped her too!

she used the view to get freebies for her wedding. she tried to get away with it on the sly but she got caught instead og being honest wit her boss and cohost she lied about leaving the show and moving on when she knew all along she was fired not only did she lie to her co workers she lied to her viewing publick and her fans. her ratings had been dropping since april 06 because her viewers and fans distrusted her. hence led to the decision by the higher up to fire her black behind. ok

something to do with disagreements on the job, but did you hear more recent news about The View?! I guess Danny Devito was on there the other day and was all wasted and drunk and funny and made some comments about Bush(good for him!) and he had to be bleeped! Check it out! It is all over the place!

I think they let her go because they thought her replacement Rosie o Donald will be better than her. Liposuction was just an excuse. I never watch View( even less now than before).

The scuttlebut is that Barbara Walters forced her out. There was a personality conflict. The show also thought her rapid and huge weight loss was not good for her image on the show.
