Hey, I was just hanging out on the corner enjoying wine from a paper bag. That's no excuse for name calling.

Long ago I was in The US Navy. We were supposed to start up and idle the ship's main engines. Because of a mechanical failure, we were unable to do so. After going through this process, then determining the cause of the problem, and trying to make repairs..To no avail..There was NOTHING to do. We had been working on the for about 17 hours.
Technically I supposed to be ON WATCH. However; I was only ON WATCH while the plant was running. While it wasn't, there was not a watch station. Myself, The Supervisor, and a junior guy took a nap. We were EXHAUSTED. The Engineering Officer of The Watch caught us. We wound up going to the Navy's version of Non Judicial Punishment. I got a suspended reduction in pay grade, 10 days restrictions to the ship, and a suspended fine.
Conservatively, sure we were in the wrong. By the letter of the law, no, we didn't break any rules. But, that's how the cookie bounces..

No. My duty is to my elderly clients and I couldn't live with myself if I mistreated them or failed to provide the service they are paying for. Afterall, someday I will (hopefully) be old and I'd want the best support worker I could get.
