(-6x^4 + 2x^2 - x + 2) - (4x^2 - 2x - 8)
-6x^4 + 2x^2 - x + 2 - 4x^2 + 2x + 8
-6x^4 + (2 - 4)x^2 + (-1 + 2)x + (2 + 8)
-6x^4 - 2x^2 + x + 10

The degree is 4

-------------------------------

(-24x^-6y^6)/(12x^2y^-3)
(-24/12) * x^(-6 - 2) * y^(6 - (-3))
-2 * x^(-8) * y^9
(-2y^9)/(x^8)
