You may be mixing the 'Pantheon' up with the 'Parthenon'. The Pantheon is in Rome (and is in my favorite piazza). Architects still marvel at the dome and wonder how it was built then. With all the technology today, people find it difficult to reproduce it.
(In reference to 'beermaker') One of the popes consecrated the pantheon under the name 'St. Mary' far after it was built.

well, first of, concrete..the good old greeks didn't have that.
very frontal (everything is in the front, not like Greek temples that were decorated all around)
Dome added to the building (notice this was the largest free standing dome since the trasury of Atreus)
High Podium (it was supposed to be raised but streets around have covered what was supposed to be the base)
Porch with columns, instead of colonnade around the building
Cofferings in the ceiling

it was built by Marcus Aggripa, builder of the appian way the main road in Italy. i think that in itself makes it Roman lol.

It was probably just another copy of the Greek architecture.
