Just an observation ive had on answers. People will say the most horrible and outragous things about a whatever political party they dislike (Democrat/Republican). Neither republicans nor Democrats are nearly as bad as people make them out to be on here. So why do people say them anyway? By the way, if you try to make some smart remark about this your just being stupid and you should reconsider whether your old enough to use the internet.

People are not always being coldhearted..often they are being defensive..which is a natural tendency when your personal beliefs are being attacked. If it's niceness that you seek best you go somewhere else because it's all over yahoo answers, not just here in the Politics and Government section. It's easier for people to let off steam here than it is face to face..there are no repurcussions (why isn't the spell check working?) here short of having an answer or your account deleted...

And, just so you know, no matter how stupid a person acts when they are here..if they are over the age of consent according to yahoo..then they have just as much right to be here spouting their opinions as we do! I guess we just have to learn to put up with it..that's the way the world is today...

I completely agree, and yes I am guilty of being less then polite in how I have chosen to respond to some of the barbed attacks directed towards either party.
I can only answer for my own actions, The reason why I have used my poison quill a few times is because I get so angry that
people either don't see or don't care that their comments may not matter too much during peace time but they do when we have combat troops fighting on the otherside of the globe. we are at war and its every ones duty to make sure the enemies we are now fighting see nothing other then a united front. the less united we look to the rest of the world the longer these terrorists will be willing to fight. because the more we fight each other the more it looks like they are winning.
and that's why I sometimes respond in anger.
you have my apology

I personally actually think that the trends introduced into our government starting with such Democrats as FDR had a very worthy ideal behind them. But the truth is, over the decades I have come to the realization that all of that has simply been commandeered to become the tool of the Communist/Totalitarianists. I therefore over time became a Conservative, which is not to say a Republican, as I have voted on both sides of the aisle if the right person had been running.
I nonetheless think Republicans (Not Bush who is a pragmatic centrist) are more in tune with the needs of this country now and in the future - and please don't say we need to modernize our concept of what constitutes democracy - our forefathers had it right then, and they are still right now.

It’s just the nature of people these days it seems. It’s not just with political factions; race, interests, sexual orientation, and really any opinion is attacked and insulted with little reason other than “they’re different”. People will say we’re a tolerant society, but I’ve personally seen too much proof to the contrary.
Only once in a while, I’ll come across someone who’s kind, polite, and patient. If not for these rare individuals I would say chivalry’s dead. Alas, it still has a pulse.

Because they feel very strongly about what they think is right, and they're so stubborn and want to make sure no one disagrees, so they make a very strong and angry point.
I usually only get verbally agressive when someone asks a completely outrageous question, like why M&Ms have chocolate in them (if you'll excuse my example, lol).
I don't really think there should be a certain age to be allowed to use the Internet. People shouldn't have to have written authorization to do everything. Try to understand why people act the way they doo. Try to look at there situations in their shoes(<--regarding the last sentence you wrote).

They are each as bad as the other friend. Neither represents those who voted for them. They have their own, and the parties ideals on the agenda and nothing else. I do see your point, but most people are frustrated because nothing is getting done about our countries problems and guess what, the Democrats and Republicans run the country so who are they to blame?

Well, if you're going to limit the scope of your observations to politics then you not going to get an answer. Political issues are inherently very diverse and emotionally charged. Not to mention that in politics there are no right answers, only the best that can be chosen from a list of not so great options. Kinda like Yahoo Answers is sometimes, so just take it for what it is. It's not like your asking for the answer to two plus two where there is only one correct answer.

Well, the fact is that no matter who is in charge, they are rich and we are not-in most cases. These politicians lie like rugs and make the big money and live the life, most are not qualified to pick their noses. And by the way, each day they go to their large, spacious homes and live up the big life with our money, while we come home and crawl into our modest homes after a days hard work, sometimes we may even have a little time to answers a question or two to forget life's pressures-on Yahoo Answers....KECK

bc like any debate they want to lie and cheat their way into your heart.

Both sides will lie their @$$es off so that you vote for them so that even though you don't know what their political intentions are they won you by saying the other side is baby killers or they want to raise your middle classes taxes so high you wont be able to live... its like any other news, you hear all the bad so you create a prejudice audience that don't care about that one or two really great things the party did, only the sick twisted things that someone else claimed.

Most people know that they are being rude. That's the point. When it comes to politics, the loudest voice is usually heard. Since ultra conservatives and ultra liberals are usually loudest, they tend to represent their entire party at least in voice. Since their voices are all that you and I hear, people tend to lash out violently against it.

"Arguing on the internet is like running in the special olympics. Even if you win, you're still retarded."

I know, i'm horrible, but it proves a point.
