Is Edmonton a good place to live and study ?

I'm a mixed student (France-West Africa) actually finishing my bachelor degree in Senegal and I'm hesitating where to go inside Canda for my master?

Edmonton is REALLY cold! UBC or SFU would be better in terms of climate, and also Vancouver is a much more beautiful city! I live in Calgary, and it was MINUS forty degrees celcius last week! I think it was even colder in Edmonton!
