Again, I want unbiased answers. I am not racist, I just dont know everything about this organization. I do know they give scholarships out, but what else. AreJesse Jackson and Al Sharpton affiliated with the NAACP?

Well we all know that people here are notorious for their bigotted, head in the sand approach to life. Where they are prepared to believe America is the land of milk and honey, where apple pie reigns supreme. That is the impression that is portrayed to the world. The reality is a lot different and just look at Borat's send up of the perverse American way of life and you get your answer.

The NAACP exists to serve all people of color, not just blacks. They exist to make sure that the civil rights of all colored people are not trampled on, which still happens, no matter the law. They are really the only organization that still uses the term "colored," and it is acceptable to use that term in conjunction with their organization. Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton are certainly members, though I do not know their current roles in the organization. The NAACP welcomes membership from all races, including caucasians. The NAACP is still fighting for the same things. Though by law blacks have all the rights that the rest of us have, it still isn't very fair. Our schools are more segregated now then before Brown v. Board. We still have many hate crimes in the US based on the person's race. It is issues like these that the NAACP is trying to solve.

NAACP= National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. Having equal rights does not necessarily mean that black people are equal. This is why Affirmative Action also exists- to give minorities an opportunity where one previously was not available for them.
In other words, this organization to my knowledge is aimed at helping blacks to prosper in a society that has stifled their growth for the past 500 years

Just because the African Americans have the same rights on paper, it doesn't mean that they are really applied the same way . Organizations such as the NAACP are still needed to make sure that the existing laws are applied equally . Racism and sexism are still alive and well in the USA despite the legislation that says otherwise.

I'm white, but I believe that there are people that will treat blacks unfairly...sure we have laws, but they are often not enforced or are under enforced...the NAACP is not a government agency and is independent of what anyone outside it thinks.

They make sure that blacks get special privileges. If a black person is late for work on a daily basis, calls in "sick" a lot, doesn't do the work they are supposed to, and is fired for it, they go in and threaten a lawsuit if that black person is not rehired. If a black person is caught on video tape committing a crime, they do all they can to help them get away with the crime anyway. Stuff like that.

They perpetuate racism . Al and Jesse are the biggest racist people alive right now . If they had their way we caucasions would be slaves .
