You are a human. All humans have strengths and weaknesses. Racism, such as calling people names for the shape of their eyes or the color of their skin, or stereotyping, is a very sick weakness. All hatred is a very sick weakness. People who are very weak and sick also blamed homosexuals for AIDS. Read some day the REAL cause of AIDS. It is a very small virus that may have been accidentally or deliberately unleashed on humans by other humans doing research. Fixing the blame on something instead of fixing the problem is also a human weakness. Keep your confidence up in these times of greater hatred and racism. And, do good in school to take an honorable and noble part someday in fixing the diseases of violence and hatred. Feel sorry for the weak and hateful. They are as miserable as if they were crawling with syphilis.

In plain English, what you have described is called 'overt racism'. A form of indirect racism which is designed to annoy, hurt and upset you. Turn the other cheek.
I have been working with my African co-workers for the last ten years. We get on extremely well. I have a very high regard of them and their attitude to work is second to none.
By and large, the people who say bad things about other races, including Africans, have probably never met an African, let alone spent time both at work and at social gatherings getting to know them.
Keep on smiling.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to every one in Africa and to all my African friends here in UK.

First of all, i think the growth of the internet has allowed Nigerian scammers to prey on people. But we should not judge a whole continent by the antics of Nigeria ( although to be fair, I have never met a single person with a good word to say about Nigeria or Nigerians).
Africa is a huge continent, I don't think anyone can generalise about such a huge and diverse continent.
What I will say is, that Africans don't seem to see anything wrong in driving along dirt roads in a $50,000 dollar air conditioned jeep whilst starving children line the roadside watching them. They see nothing wrong in this, which to our European eyes, seems a little hard hearted.
Africans also like to try to get ALL the money, even if it means that everyone else will be starving, they want it ALL even if they have to hide it in a hole in the ground, or even better, a Swiss bank account.
What I will also say, is that Africans in general are very family orientated and will do anything to help their family members, including getting them jobs in the ministry of petroleum etc.
But like I said, we shoudln't generalise about such a huge continent. Neither should we expect them to embrace our European ideals of decency and morals. It's disrespectful.

I have been reading a lot of the replies to the question you posed and some have made me laugh and some have made feel sorry for those who wrote them.
To those who seem not to have a good thing to say about Nigerians...You know what... the Nigerians really couldn't give a rat's **** for your answer. If somebody clearly tells you to help them siphon off money to a foreign account( you fully knowing that the money is looted government) and you do so..what does that make you? Isn't that what is called being an accessory to crime?
My dear questioner, Who do you trust.... The people who carried off your brothers and sisters to their countries for over 450 years, pillaged, raped and colonised your Motherland or your own? The people who allow African dictators to bank their looted money into their Banks? The people who cause oil pollutions into the environment? Those who entertain dictators ( e.g. Elizabeth of Britain and the former dictator of Nigeria Babangida and the SUCCESSIVE governments of the USA with numerous african dictaors especially the evil Mobutu sese Seko),knowing very well that these people are evil unto their people?
The evils perpetrated by France, Portugal and it's numerous allies in the Bright continent of Africa..do you trust them?
Uhmm do you remeber Leopold of Belgium and the african colonies?
so my dear, who do you think should be trusted here? Ask yourself that question and ponder on my answer to you.

I think this is a case of representation and the media.....
Newspapers tend not to tell fluffy cute stories, like the latest bake sale at your local YMCA, No they tend to fill their headlines either with Murder, Conspiricy, rape or Which Celeb just divorced who.
I think that the media is responsible for much of the Stereotyping in todays society, take for instance TV... on police shows the Purpotrator of a Crime is often an African Male, Christians are almost always portrayed as Fanatical Lunatics, Muslims are often portrayed as being dangerous and on the brink of blowing up the number 15 (no insult meant) . this not only is incorrect but reinforces a preconception that is wrong, and not only fuels prejudice but causes social friction between cultures
The oversexed thing is due to African having HUGE willys :D
Seriously I think there is more focus on Foriegn Nationals who have large families than Large British families, I think this is an attempt to indicate an imbalance in the benifits used by different sectors of the population, which is unfair.
as for the Aids, I think that the problem is with the governments of many countries.......Aids could have been completely wiped out globally if they really wanted too, they only went as far as they wanted to, If they had stamped out Aids in Africa it would have led to a more stable society (as people would not have to live with the fear of Aids) and therefore Africa may have competed with the West in trade or Agriculture.
There are many countries in the world which often have the richest harvests which are being completely ripped off by the rest of the world, and something really should be done about it.

Don't worry too much about. Most cultures/races have a bad reputation for something or the other. Its possible that some of the people you are currently surrounded by see your distress when they wind you up about your countrymen. Try not to rise to the bait and ignore them. Get on with your life as life is too short and precious to waste worrying about ignorant folk.

You want honesty?
I spent 15 years living in South Africa. If you want to talk about tribal groupings "local" to that part of the continent, yeah, I trust them - Zulu, Sotho and whatever else. "They" sometimes have a different value system to what uitlanders would assume, but they're trustworthy within their own world-view - if it's different to yours, it's different - not better or worse, just different.
Nigerians on the other hand, I wouldn't trust - every one I've ever met has claimed to be a prince or princess - and acted accordingly.
AIDS, it is rumoured, was created in a laboratory by the former white afrikaans regime in SA.
Why does the spell-checker not accept the word "Sotho"?

Um, people whose actions prove they are trustworthy make them so, no matter where in the world they come from or live in.
I apologize that some people are exceptionally stupid and ignorant about Africans, but there are also people out there who believe because I am from the United States and have very pale skin, I have never suffered poverty or unhappiness or have been rejected for jobs. I have needed church charity before when I was nearly homeless; I know what it's like to have nothing.
I have had people spit on me for being melanin-impaired and I have had people scream that I am the Devil and evil and that I, personally, am responsible for slavery -- because I am pale.
I believe you are an individual, and if people are too oblivious to leave their stereotypes behind and actually learn about the beauty of the culture you grew up in, then their opinions shouldn't matter to you.

The reason why Africans get blamed for aids is because a disproportionatly large percentage of black men because of selfishness and their culture have unprotected sex whenever they can knowing they have aids. It's called murder.

It's impossible to make a blanket statement about everyone who lives in the continent of Africa. Admittedly there are some countries in Africa that are controlled by socialist dictators who are cruel and oppressive to their people, but that doesn't make all the people there bad or untrustworthy.
Just like in any other continent in the world there are good and bad people everywhere.
