I agree wholeheartedly. Ever since the movement to remove God from our daily lives began, this nation has been on an express-elevator to hell. Morals and respect are out the window. "Political Correctness" is just another term for the sterilization of America. God Bless America.

You're not stepping on anyone's toes, you have the right to believe as you will. But, and this is only my opinion of course, if all it takes to lose sight of the Ten Commandments is removing it from public view, then that person's faith isn't much to begin with is it? Did you know that the Pledge of Allegiance didn't include the "Under God" phrase until 1954? It also was originally penned by a socialist Baptist minister, yep, you read right - a socialist lol. The Pledge has not yet been removed, though efforts to do so are still alive. Personally, I think it's a tempest in a teapot. If people can't follow their faith without public testimonials and public displays of Biblical scripture, they need to reexamine the basis of that faith.

well especially if anyone here has ever read the bill of rights - there is absolutely no wording of separation of church and state.
1st amendment clearly reads
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
by not allowing prayer in school, and not allowing the 10 commandments and the pledge then the supreme court is in violation due to the free exercise thereof.
Separation of church and state was found in a letter than Thomas Jefferson had sent to another man despite the fact that TJ was not the only person contributing ideas and was not the exact curator of the bill of rights.
hmmm- food for thought

It's odd that you said "America needs to stand up...", because it is obvious this is not the view of all Americans, but simply a fraction of them. The fact is the constitution says clearly that church and state will be kept separate. It doesn't matter if you are a strict interpreter of the constitution or not, the matter was specifically applied. Since public schools are part of the government, church must be kept out. And I'm pretty sure shutting down churches would be denied under those same words.

Who took the 10 commandments away? Oh, you mean how statues and plaques bearing Christian religious passages are banned on government property (because the government has the responsibility to represent ALL cultures, and ALL religions in America, not just Christians)?
Same thing for schools.
No one is going to close down churches. Churches are privately owned. They're so far separated from government they don't even pay taxes. There's nothing to fear there, unless you've got a persecution complex. Simply put, there's not a single fact to base your fears on... therefore, do not fear.
edit: There is nothing stopping you from keeping God in your life, except you. Bring him everywhere you want to, you just can't erect statues of Jesus on Capitol Hill... is that too hard to follow?

I totally argee with you!!!!!!! OK first of all people in America need to suck it up!! Ok lets look back in the years, Mostly everybody was cathloic/christian in the 50's even dating back to the 1600's. Ok just because more people are imagrating from different countries with their religions, doesn't mean we have to change things around. If people have a problem with saying God they shouldn't be here. If its such a freakin' problem then tell them to think of their own God. I highly doubt kids in public school think about what God is or what God they are talking about. They don't even want to stand up to say it., (I was a sub for a day so thats how I no). The Pledge of Alegence, Is respect for this country and the people dieing for it. If they have a problem with saying God in the schools, then freakin' home school their kids. I go to church every sunday. I totally argee with you!!!!

I honestly believe that the influence of God in the government is becoming way to excessive. This country is based on independence and the freedom to chose. I really dont think that someones religious preferences should be even considered when judging their person. I also dont think it should have impact on law or government because it violates the constitution.

Religion, any religion, has no place in public schools, court houses etc unless items, teachings of all faiths are allowed. Practice your faith with your family at home and in your church. If you want your children to be educated in an atmosphere that permits prayer and religious teachings send your child to a parochial school or homeschool them. Your faith is your personal business as is mine.

They haven't done those things in my school. We still say the pledge every morning and the commandments is hanging up in the office....though, I do live in the Bible Belt so that could be why.

If they are hypocrites in church, find a church that is better, there are many great churches if that is what you beleive in. Then you wouldn't need to get your religion in school. Who do you think should decide which religion to have in school?
