My friend saw this stupid video online about what ice and salt do...so he came up with a very retarted idea and put both on his arm and now he has a huge rash that hasent gone away for 5 days, what should he do??

The rash isn't some dread disease. It's the result of mild frostbite. When you get a piece of ice out of the freezer, it's typically a bit colder than the freezing point of water... usually about 10 or 15 degrees colder. But when add salt, it effectively reduces the freezing/melthing point of water. The end result is that you have a salty brine of melted water which is actually lower than the freezing point of pure water. So your friend was freezing his skin, which causes the cells to lyse (break open) and die. Not so smart. Don't let him watch that scene in Fight Club where dude puts lye on his skin. :)

Lol the rash on his arm is a chemical burn that is caused by the reaction between the ice and the salt. It will eventually go away.
Looks like it kept it on a little too long XD

it is a chemical reaction salt and ice dont jive. its a mild chemical burn it will go away before too long but it will probably leave a scar
