Yes, it's based on facts but it also contains theories and other stuff like that.

The facts in this book/movie were absolutely not true! It is highly incorrect in it's historical facts. The History Channel did several very good documentaries on this about the time that the movie came out and there are some other books out there that also examine the real truth. Take care and remember the old adage: Don't believe everything you hear.

It's pretty sad when you see people answering this question by saying that the DaVinci Code is based on fact. If you check on it, almost everything was made up. The Priory of Cion, for example, was invented by some French kook who wanted to feel important. Search the internet and you'll find it's all fiction.
Nevertheless, it's a pretty good mystery, but don't get confused thinking it's based on any facts at all.

It isn't based on a true story but assumptions. The moral of the story is that Jesus was a man not a God, to think things out don't just believe because its been passed down for generations. Reasoning is the key. Peace and love be with you.

No, this movie does not just blow my mind. It is a fairly good movie but it is not anything exceptional. It is, most likely, a fictional story that sounds very real. No movie make anyone to rethink anything.

It's not based on a true story. The big clues are the standard "...resemblance to real persons living or dead is coincidental." disclaimer and the fact that the book is found in the fiction section of book stores & libraries.
Let's not get too excited, people.

It's not based on a true story...it's based on a FICTION book.
The actual Biblical, dead sea scroll, and artistic references are true. The story is fake.

the movie is pretty amazing. All the facts used in the story are true, but the actual plotline is fiction. I'm surprised so many Christians are angered by it. Would it really matter is Jesus was married?
