Because wealth is a relative factor. If you give everyone 1 million pounds the currency will devalue until 1000 pounds buys what 1 pound will today. Look up inflation on google, Weimar Germany is a good example.
However an unselfish wish - toughie. Don't want to sound like a miss world finalist. I'd wish something selfish that would also benefit the race. I'd wish we could discover some hugely sustainable method of space travel so we could start colonising other solar systems etc. Thus the race has roiom to spread, the earth wouldn't keep getting battered and I could be a spaceman (My secret fantasy since childhood).

I have been sat here thinking about this for the past ten minutes and if i used a wish for myself then whats the point because i would be misreble coz i would have no one to share it with and i dont think it would last very long but if i wish for the good of the world then it would benefit everyone including me and last a lifetime so i think i would wish for the good of the world

I have simple needs, I don't need a lot, but my wish would be a bit selfish:----
I would wish for one wish to be granted every day of my life.
Most days I would be enabling the whole world to have access to clean water, to have the ability to grow all the food they need, to eradicate the causes of certain diseases around the world, to give pychopaths a conscience which they would appreciate.
And similar world solving things.
Having solved the major problems for the world, I too would benefit from these changes,
But I would never-the-less use one wish on my personal ambition, to enable what I would like to happen after my death to me, not to my body.

I would seriously think about it, and I'd either wish for my books to sell like hotcakes, or for my entire family to get into Heaven.
I'd probably do the second one, because, after all, I'm going to end up dead sometime, and I'd rather be assured of Heaven. That's a bit selfish, but I'm asking for my whole family. Of course, that could be selfish, too. I don't want to be without them up there. Dang you, Thomas Hobbes, and you're "No one is altruistic" arguments!

I'll keep the selfish one to myself, but it's not really selfish. It would save two lives. Okay, my one wish is that every child would go to sleep warm, safe, unharmed, with a full belly and having laughed that day. Just happiness for little kids. That's my wish.

At the moment I'd use it selfishly as my wife's mum has just passed away 2 wks before our first baby is due. I'd bring her back in a second and the world would just have to get on with it.

Of course it would be a selfish wish. I wouldn't waste it on anyone else in this world. They have never done anything for me so why would I do anything for them? And you can't tell me the rest of the world don't think the same as me.
