The first answer is good....the rule in general is two lbs. a week/5 lbs. a month. Any faster and you're losing hydration and muscle mass and risking saggy skin. Also, if you lose too quickly, you're way more likely to put it right back on. You're exercise regime sounds good. Poultry and fish (red meat or pork once a week for a treat) are best, lots of veggies, limit carbs (but don't exclude...they are an important part of nutrition too) and lots of water (Fruit2O is wonderful for a low-cal treat). I have found two things that are excellent for cutting calories....spray-on "butter" (Parkay or I Can't Believe It's Not Butter are very good) for hot veggies or basting on the grill and the new Wishbone Salad Spritzers are very tasty. Almost zero fat or calories and lots of flavor. Good luck! I have lots of recipes if you're interested.

It took me 6 months, which is a reasonable time frame. You should be aiming for slow and steady... fast weight loss almost assuredly means you will regain it.
I recommend keeping a food journal. You really need to get an good idea of how many calories you're currently consuming. Then, aim for creating a deficit of 500 calories a day. You should do this by cutting back on how many calories you consume AND increasing the calories you burn.
Your body needs carbohydrates for energy and a healthy diet aims to include complex carbs from whole grains (feel free to cut out simple carbs like sugar and nutritionless white bread.) Use your treadmill at home, even if it's just 20 minutes a day (I set up my NordicTrack in the living room and exercized my way through a half hour sitcom... time flies when you're distracted.) But, go to the gym too... adding weight training to the mix is essential. Lean muscle mass revs up your metabolism; with regular weight training you can actually see a difference in your metabolism in about 12 weeks. You may not lose weight as fast as you hoped for, because muscle weighs more than fat, but you'll lose inches and look better.

Forget how long it takes, there is a right way and a wrong way to lose weight. Forget losing more than 6-8 pounds per month, it is bad for your body and you will be left with saggy skin.
1-2 pound a week is the safest method. The slower the better..allow your body to adapt, it will keep your skin tight..
Anything other than that and your probably losing muscle as well, and considering muscle helps burn fat, not a good idea..
5 small nutritious meals a day, with small portions making up about 1200 calories in total. Forget only eating lettuce once a day....
Do 20-30 minutes of cardio per day, 5 days a week.
With above routine and diet, you will lose 1-2 pounds a week, you might lose more the first week or two because of fluid loss..
Dieting is not difficult, Im not sure why so many women make a big deal about it, it's a piece of p1ss.
What amuses me is how when women are in relationship they "just cant lose weight", but as soon as the relationship ends and they are the hunt for a new man - watch them b1tches diet....pmsl
Good luck love.

I've lost 5 kilos in my first week. It's my 10th day and I have included salad with some protein (eg. egg/ lean chicken) as you suggested. After 4 years of trying, the fat is finally coming off. It truly feels like magic!
Get started today!

I'm investing in a treadmill soon. Just threw out my bike. I believe they recommend 2 hours 3x a week. I lost 30lbs. in a month a few years back. my doctor said that's to much in a month. why? because you lose more muscle, and end up gaining it back. I would say 20lbs. a month is ideal.

It would work, but dont be shocked if it takes up to 2 or 3 months before you start seeing noticable results. Thats why too many people give up too quickly. Give it time and dont expect too much and you'll be more satisfied with what you do get. Good luck!

Swap a bowl of pasta for the bowl of vegetables. You can spend less to 200 calories by lowering the starch and adding veggies.

Be a kid yet again! When eating out, order any child’s sandwich, pizza or pizza. Then you can have the treats you cherish, while reducing your portions and cutting your calorie intake.
