I am a Christian and against gay marriage. (Not only because of my religion, however.) The main reasons many Christians are against it are the following:
a. Leviticus 18:22 : You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; such a thing is an abomination.
b. Romans 1: 22-27 : Professing to be wise, they became fools, exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and crawling creatures.
Therefore God gave them over in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, so that their bodies would be dishonored among them. For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.
For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error.
(Note: The last sentence is sometimes used to explain the AIDs crisis in the gay communities.)
c. Matthew 19: 4-6 : "Haven't you read," he replied, "that at the beginning the Creator made them male and female, and said, For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh? So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate."
(Note: This refers mainly to divorce, but people say that it also is the way Jesus defined marriage.)
-Also, last I checked, most Christians say to love everyone, but not necessarily what they do. (I don't agree with this, but I've heard a lot of Christians say it.)

To lessen your confusion, remember this: A true Christian Loves and not hates. I am so happy you ask questions and you sound like your very young. Keep praying and asking God to help you to understand His word. Let you follow in His footsteps and learn more of His word. Sometimes it may feel as tho., God is not listening, but if your true and sincere, He is listening. He Loves you and all His children. You should treat all people good and not hate anyone. They have feelings and it is not nice to mis-treat people who are less fortunate. God has instilled in you , WISDOM ! Use your own gut feeling on what you should do and how you should treat others. Put your self in the less fortunates, shoes. How would we like to be treated. That is how we should treat others. Hate is such a negative word. Don't hate, but Love. God Loves All His Children.

No Christian in their rightmind ever said to hate! Hate in the Bible means that you want them in hell... hell is so bad taht you would want to see your enemies there... anyway the Bible says the opposite and the Media doesn't help much at all when they depict religions. I know Christians who see homosexuallity as a sin. Sins are not supposed to rated over others, If any 'Christian' does they are wrong... Love the Sinner, hate the Sin!

I don't hate gay people,I hate what they do.
They have a total attitude ans they are very argumentative, because people who are guilty of sin will argue til the end of time.
I actually used to ignore gay people til they started the gay marriage thing.
I am against anything immoral.

Read some of the answers to my questions. I am trying to discover things myself too. Some people were very hateful. If they are "Christians" I don't think they should be so hateful. Look at my questions. Maybe they will help you too!
I am a "diest" maybe you are too.

Questioning is a good thing, no matter what a religion tells you. Most Christians disapprove of gays, though not all hate them.

The Bible says that only God is fit to judge a man... and anyone who does is sinning, so anyone who judges is going to hell... right along with us gays... people need to stop calling the kettle black and be good christians- you know, the kind that loves everyone and doesn't judge... did Jesus turn his back on the prostitutes and thieves and lepers? No, he befriended them, like a good follower of the faith...
