OK there some good answers there, but I suspect before you can do any of those, you'll have to be in normal mode. So I might suggest that you reboot in safe mode and run your anti-virus and any Mal-ware scanners that you have first.

There can be two basic reasons for a compter restarting on its own.
Virus or spyware: Run you AV and AS programs.
Outdated Video drivers. Go to the Computer Mfgr. or Video card mfgr and download the latest non-beta driver. There is a work around that might help if updated drivers are not available:
1.
Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
2.
On the left side click "Display Classic View, Click Display Icon, click the Settings tab, and then click Advanced.
3.
Click the Performance or Troubleshooting tab (depending on your operating system), and then reduce hardware acceleration a notch at a time until your system stabilizes.

Well without knowing what type of OS you have and what kind of computer or how old it is, I would say it is your power supply. I had a similiar problem with my sony vaio...it would scarcely run longer than 10 minutes. If it's under warranty I would sent it for repair, if not try getting a new power supply for it...you can get a generic one for less than $50 more than likely.

If it's not any of the above and your computer isn't brand new, it could be a dieing power supply or a failing CPU.

To start with get rid of Norton AV as it is rubbish. Get a program called Avast Anti-virus and get spydoctor as well as they are both excellant programs. If you still have problems then re-install windows. ( If you havea disc).

If your computer is not working properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.
