If he had a Will, it would have to be probated through an attorney, in most States, it's the law. If you are mentioned in the Will, and it has been or is going to be probated, someone will contact you (if they know how). Keep your eye out on the local newspaper of where he lived under like "Public Anouncements". They advertise outstanding "Estate" information there. Or you can contact your local COUNTY CLERK'S OFFICE (of the county he lived in). A Will is not Probated until you have passed away. You should be able to learn something there. Good Luck

It doesn't sound like you were all that close. But we'll give you the benefit of the doubt. (Forgive but we're usually present for our only surviving member's passing)
If you're the 'only' family member left, and he actually left a current will and testament, the executor of his estate will be in contact with you once his estate has been settled (once his bills have been paid).
So hang in there, if you have something coming to you, you'll get it! (Make sure your numbers listed)

Don't do anything. If he named you in his will, his lawyer will contact you. If he didn't, hon, it's too late to fret over it now.
