The Nintendo Wii, it has MANY quality games out right now such as The Legend of Zelda, Rayman Raving Rabbids, Excite Truck, and Madden... not to mention they can play all their old GCN games on it! Also they can download 'retro games' off of the virtual Console, games from the NES, SNES, N64, and Turbo-grafix16

The PS3 is rather expensive ($600 for the full system) and you likely will not be able to get one easily until next year. It has one really good game (Resistance, Fall of Man) which is rated M, so you may not want your kids playing it, but IDK...

The 360 has been out for over a year now, and therefore has many quality games out, many of these games are M rated though so keep that in mind... The Xbox Live is a VERY good online gaming service, that will allow your kids to play Xbox games with others, if you pay the subscribtion fee...

My choice: Wii...

It really depends on the gaming interests of the kids...

The PS3 and X-Box 360 sport higher res graphics and are geared more toward serious gaming (with price tags to match) while the Wii is not quite as accomplished in the graphics department and more family focused.

And the Wii will play all of the previous platform's (Gamecube)games. Rumor has it that Sony is in the process of enabling the PS3 to play all of the PS2 games to full functionality - but that is not yet the case.

The X-Box 360 has been out for a year now and has a pretty solid offering of games. I actually do not know if the original X-Box games will play in the 360 though.

If you want to give your kids a console by Christmas get the Xbox 360 it has great graphics, great games, and they are available. Right now the Wii and PS3, well you will not be able to get them unless you want to pay $3,000 on ebay. By the way, you can play any gamecube game on the Wii but you just have to have the gamecube controller.

Thw Wii is the best. I'm not sure if it works with GC but you can download any game that Nintendo ever make, connect to the internet (surfing!), and the Wiimote (remote controller) is a +. The PS3's too pricy for my liking and I never liked Xbox
