Katie is a great nickname for Katleyn or Katherine, Kathryn. There are lots of choices. As she gets older, she can decide to call herself Kate or use a full name such as Katerine. Katherine Hepburn went by Kate and she was in her 90s when she died.
If you are worried about using Katie as a first name, then choose a middle name that she can use if she likes.
My oldest son's middle name is Adam. I was afraid he wouldn't like it, so I made it his middle name. He's always liked it and never uses his first name.

Any name you give your child they can live with it fir their entire life, not coco or shanany, But just calm down sit back clear your mind and just let it flow. Thats how I picked out my names and my fiancee loved the 1st ones I told him so thats what we are going with! Kaylee Arianna for a girl and Collin Payton for a boy. Remeber if this get to be really hard for you pick a name that can cut down to a nick name! Kaylee, Kay if the baby turns to a adult and feels that the name is childish!

I like Emma, Emily, Anna, Elise, Amanda, Lauren, Heather, Janice, and I love Kate. Choose names that don't sound girly, but kind of romantic and simple. Your instincts are good to stay away from "trendy" names. I think the best way to tell is to wait till the baby is born, look into her eyes, and then give her a name.

I love Alexandria for a girl. If it's too long, maybe Alexa or Alexandra. It sounds cute for an infant, and as they get older, they'll come up with nicknames, like Alexa, and just go by that.
For a boy, I love the name Jayden. It's not that common as Alex or some other names, and really, boy names always stick.
