What does the phrase "You can't have your cake and eat it too"
mean? Ive always heard people use that phrase but never knew what it meant
Tell me in a easy way that i will understand

You can't have everything that you want in life...sorta like the Rolling Stone song says..."You can't always get what you want, but if you try it sometime you just might find, you get what you neeeed"! You have to choose sometimes tho it may be hard which road to go in life.

like why would you make your bed , then go sleep in it?
you wouldn't.
theres no point.
you cant have your pretty cake,
if you want to eat it.
right?

it means that if u eat ur cake, than u cant have it. so u wouldnt b able to have ur cake and eat it 2 . get it?

It means something like.....you can't have a best friend and sleep with her boyfriend......or maybe.....you can't be on a diet and eat ice cream every night......or....you can't kiss your boss's butt and expect your coworkers to like you.
