if the only difference is the sex thing then maybe thats all people think about when they hear gay or lesbian. for so long i thought i was homophobic because my best friend came out as gay and every time we were talking about it i'd think of him having sex with a boy and feel really uncomfortable. but when i sat down and thought about it, i get the same uncomfortable feeling when i think of any of my friends having sex... its just because i was actively thinking about what was different between us.

also though, if you think about young guys, gay or straight, are mostly very.. hormonally driven. with straight guys theyre more likely to have to invest in a relationship in order to get the girl to have sex with them. but if it's all young boys with the same attitudes, then i think it's definitely a much more of a sex thing. i don't think this of lesbians, or older gay men or even many younger gay men but... i can see why some common perceptions come about.

This always amuses me too.

Sexuality is really about nothing much at all, and this is why:-

If two people live together and share a bed together, and in the unlikely event that they have sex every-night, then the total time spent doing this would possibly not exceed 3.5 hrs per week.

Even if they are both away at work for maybe 10 hours, over five days, that means they could only be technically "together" for the remainder of the week, which is about 118 hours.

That means that even the "once a day" sex machines only actually "do it" about 3% of the time they are together, and as most people don't have sex every day, it is possibly more like 1.5% of the time, with 98.5% of the time spent doing other things.

Far be it from me to be critical, but you'd think that all the homophobic people would want to know what gay people do together when they're not naked in bed.

They may, in fact, discover that gay people are just the same as them!

It cracks me up how people throw the words ignorant and bigot around.

Think of the root word of SEXUALITY. I wouldn't say that ignorance or bigotry is the problem. Confusion is a better word for most people.

Go to a gay pride parade some time. It is mainly themed by sex. I have gone to several and there is nothing but a bunch of floats with go go boys dancing more than half naked. Dyke's on bikes, most of them are topless. It is put out there that we gay people are sexual creatures trying to just get our rocks off. If you go to gay bars, people don't really go anymore to socialize they go to get the cutest boy they can and get their rocks off.

We as gay people portray our selves sexually. If it walks like a duck quacks like a duck then its a rooster, no its a duck. Start setting a good example as a whole and people will be more open to the fact that being gay is a human thing not a sex thing.

Wow, that is a great question! Good for you! Why? Ignorance, bigotry, or not ever having had contact with gays or lesbians. That is my guess anyway.

I don't get it either! It's just like heterosexuality...some are all about sex, but most aren't. People need to get a nice cold dose of reality.

Because they know so little about the subject.
If they took the trouble to find out, they might regard us differently.

'Cause people are stupid. They're bigots too, that's probably a large part of it.

Love is all that matters. Be Blessed.
