Yes, dating is this bad. Everyone on earth has their own little weirdnesses, and they're on display when we date, whether or not we try to hide them. It's so hard to meet someone nowadays that some people are just settling for what they can get so they won't be alone at 40. Some people are being more selective and finding themselves alone at 40. It really stinks, but finding the right person for you involves the Fates and a good dose of sheer blind luck.
