I'm applying for a program at a hospital but I was wondering why it asks if anyone is my family works in healthcare. I can understand if they want to know if any of my family are employed by that hospital but I guess I just don't understand. Would it look better if somone in my family were? or weren't? thanks!

It gives them an idea of your background. If your mother was a nurse....or your father was a doctor, you would have been exposed to a lot of information and most likely would have learned something about the health care field. You might have a basic knowledge of health care practices, which could really shorten the learning curve.....and make it a lot easier for the hospital to train you....and a shorter time before you would be a productive staff member of that hospital.

Not neccessarily. If you parents are doctors, you could have more knowledge of the healthcare industry since you grew up around it. Or if you parents are the CEOs of major healthcare suppliers, they want to make sure you are not going to influence the hospital to switch all of their products to your parent's company.

its not saying 'in that hosptial' exactly. just in genral has anyone in your family, been a nurse, doctor, owned an assisteed living home.. ect. ect. and. I don't tink it will look good or bad I think they are just wondering. Maybe to see if you would have prier knoledge of extra stuff. from like parents and other people.

I don't think either would sound better. But never lie; they may later ask for that person's info and if you cannot provide it, you're not hired! Good luck with that position.
