my new video card will somtimes show this blue screen and somtimes it will have purple dots all over the screen and then it will not show anything on the monitor.
Also I went to support.ati.com and looked up answers there and they said I have to un-install my internal driver for the new one to work properly and I cain't un-install it cause it says I have to switch it to vga mode can you help me with all this or do I have to swap it back for a new one.

The "Switch to VGA Mode" is essentially telling windows that you don't have an ATI and that's it's only a 'Generic PCI VGA adapter'.
You do this in Windows under the Device Manager. Start - > Control Panel - > System - > 'Hardware' tab -> Device Manager
Expand 'Display Adapters' right click on your ATI card, and click Properties. In the 'driver' tab, click on 'Update Driver'. Choose to find the driver yourself from the list, choose Standard PCI graphics adapter. Reboot your PC.
The colors may be very basic, but your using a generic vga driver now, and cleaning out existing ATI driver files is easier because they are not in use.
Search your registry for ATI entries, and search your folders for ATI driver files. Delete only the ATI files, being careful of what is essential and part of Windows. Reboot your computer after removing ATI apps/files.
While now still using the standard vga driver, download the latest drivers for your ATI card at http://www.ati.com
Install the (Catalyst) driver package, and reboot your computer.

Thats an old ATI Windows error. You have to Unistall theOld Driver to Update/Install the new driver, yes, you go into BIOS VGA, after 3 rebbots, and make ceration the old one is unistalled the way ATI says to, 3 more reboots, and then you might get the new one to load in.
3 more reboots, and it should all work.
I had a bear of a time Upgradeing an ATI GeForce one day, but after printing the ATI Directions out, it was easy,kinda.

If you provide us with more information, we can help you better. Please give us operating system, video card model and driver version.
There are two possibilities:
1) You got driver issues and you need to upgrade to the latest drivers.
2) Try a different or another video card.
You should be able to reinstall the drivers over your old ones. While this is the best method, this would seem to be the appropriate solution since you are having issues uninstalling your original drivers.

some times a new graphix card may not be all u need
when u get a new card not only do u need to upgrade the screen u need to add other hardware into the computor
... yea for example fan to kool off the card...
the card can burn up if u dont have enough air moving in
u also need to upgrade the other lil things within the comp itself
belive me u need to use more money becuse u just bought the card
in other words u need to match the hard wares together
it needs to be ballance
ur graphix card is probly too high standards and needs a better system to run with it
