As you can see by the comments, this is good, but it can be worked out with a little thought:-
Hold on I think I am picking up a signal from your mind, lets see if I am really picking up your signal, or if it is just my imagination going wild:

On a piece of paper write down the year you were born.
I think I know that year, I might be wrong.....
Add to that year, the year in which an important event happened.
That event just came to my minds eye, or was it just a dream?
Add to that your age at your birthday this year.
Oh I didn't expect you to be that young, it was an old trick you put down, you can't be this young.
Now add the number of years since the important event.
I think I know the total, It's..... well what do you make it?

No, I didn't think of that number.

I couldn't have been imagining that important event.

I can't have known how old, or young you are.

It must have been my imagination, I wasn't thinking of the number 4,012.

Divide by 2 =15.5
minus number you first thought of .5 = 15

Zapp Branagan's example does work, but if he did it on a calculator with less than 14 digits it will be unable to give an accurate result.
17.577447800111 X2 = 35154895600222 divide by 2 it equals 17.577447800111

Negatives are more complicated, but they are not numbers in that sense.

You've just proved

((2x + 30)/2) - x = 15

Which works for all values x

((2x + 30)/2) - x = 15
(x + 15) - x = 15
15 = 15
