Here is a site that carries recent news in the scientific realm. http://www.sciencenewsforkids.org/ There is a list on the left of the web page of various other types of articles the site has.

This site also has a list of articles, it links to magazines and newspapers you can read online. You have to make the choice. The bottom of the screen has boxes to fill in your opinion and such, but you don't have to do that. http://outreach.rice.edu/~dgabby/science/article_science.htm
Those blinking eyeballs drive me nuts.
